Why We Foster

“When you foster/rescue, you know you've saved a life, you know you're making a difference, you're changing the world a little bit.

You know they can't stay, because you're preparing them for something better than they know they deserve, something they don't know they can have until they actually live it and have it.

A dog will never be ungrateful. They'll never forget you saved their life. They'll never forget the love you gave them, the warm bed they could always trust to have after you saved them, the consistent meals and treats you offered. They never forget that. And as a foster, it is our mission to rebuild that trust in us humans that other humans so easily threw away. It's our mission to heal thier souls, help them be the beautiful dogs they were born to be. It's a blessing to be able to be that bridge to a better life...

And when it's time to say farewell, our hearts hurt so terribly, because they have become our babies, but the joy of knowing they'll be in the best hands until their last day on this Earth is worth all the pain of saying farewell.

Jodi saved Dottie, literally from the streets. She was so unbelievably broken and scared, she cowered at the sight of us. But Jodi persisted and taught Dottie she was safe, she could trust, she was in good hands. She nursed her back to health from a bladder infection and double ear infection, she helped her heal after her spay, she's taught her true love...and Dottie will never forget her foster mother. The bridge. Her bridge. To a better life.

Dottie has been such a blessing in our pack of girls, she's the perfect balance of crazy and calm, and I know our girls will miss her terribly. Tonight is our last night with our beautiful Texan Dottie girl, tomorrow she will start her new life as a Chicago girl and I promise you, she's in the best of hands. Her new mother is KC and her daddy is Ryan, she has a big brother named Boh which will be a change of pace from the high estrogen levels that run through this house...but I know she'll love him and her new parents so very much and she couldn't be in better hands!

Y'all give our baby girl the best, most beautiful vibes you can and a good ol Texas "see you later" for a happy, healthy and beautiful life up North! She so deserves it and we'll keep you up to date on her adventures as time goes on.

Tonight we cry...because Dottie came into our lives and healed US...she taught us tenderness beyond what we knew we had, patience and consistency. She did more for this group of girls than most humans could...by trusting us to love her the way she deserves.

We'll love you forever and always baby girl. Happy life! ❤❤❤

Thank you to Saving Hope for helping us in this process with medical care and support. We love you guys!!!” - Crystal Colón
