WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE FOUND A DOG OR CAT

  •  If circumstances allow, calmly get the dog. It is best if you sit on the ground and let the dog come to you. If the dog has a tag and or collar with information call and text the number that you have found the dog.

  • If there is no collar with tags, take the found animal to a local vet or Petsmart to have it scanned for a microchip. If there is a microchip they will either give you the chip number and the maker of the chip or they will call the maker themselves to check for registration. In the case where they give you the information you will want to call the chip company and notify them you found an animal and what the chip number is, they will try to contact the owners if it is registered.

  •  If there is no other option reach out to Saving Hope ONLY if all the steps above have been completed. All of the local shelters and rescues are completely full and busting at the seams.

WHAT TO DO BEFORE YOU SURRENDER

  • If you are considering surrendering your animal, we recommend trying the following first.

  • Consult with a trainer.

  • If possible remove any triggers or issues the animal is having within their current environment.
